She sang semi-classical and light music, such as thumri, Marathi Natya Sangeet, Bhavgeet, and Bhakti geet (devotional music), in addition to the pure traditional khyal. She studied under Hirabai Barodekar and Sureshbabu Mane, the children of Abdul Karim Khan, the leader of the Kirana gharana, and their respective mentors.Additionally, Pandit Bholanath Bhatt of the “Bhatt Parampara” in Prayag, Allahabad provided her with the rigorous training in Thumri Gayaki that she needed. She had additional instruction from the Agra gharana’s Azmat Hussain Khan “Dilrang” and Jagannathbua Purohit “Gunidas”

Her songs were included in the Geet Ramayan, a performance of songs about the Hindu god Rama, in April 1955. Other performers were Lata Mangeshkar, Yogini Joglekar, Usha Atre, Babanrao Navdikar, and Sudhir Phadke.
