She’s ready to slay the competition, one Rusical and acting challenge at a time. Before she was a drag performer on RuPaul’s Drag Race, Tina Burner was breaking hearts in a boy band, complete with blond frosted tips.

Here’s what we know about this drag queen and her history prior to the reality competition series.

Tina Burner is a contestant on ‘RuPaul’s Drag Race’ season 13

She loves red and yellow. As a contestant on RuPaul’s Drag Race season 13, Tina Burner is ready to prove she has the charisma, uniqueness, nerve, and talent to be “America’s Next Drag Superstar.”

“When I started drag in the past versus now, it’s such a different light, it’s so commercial and mainstream, it’s in every home in America,” Burner said during an interview with Entertainment Weekly. “I played ice hockey, but I wanted to be a figure skater. I played flag football when I wanted to be a baton twirler.”

“I didn’t have those opportunities,” she continued. “Now, it’s amazing to see the acceptance. You see kids as young as nine or 10 saying ‘I’m a drag queen!’ Girl, if I tried that, I would’ve gotten hit, honey!”

Tina Burner was a musician before she was a ‘RuPaul’s Drag Race’ contestant

Whether it be with the Rusical challenge or with her confessionals, Tina Burner isn’t afraid to share her love of music. In fact, this drag performer shared that before she was strutting her stuff on the mainstage, she was performing in a boy band. (Out of drag, of course.)

While some of the season 13 queens boast love for musical theatre, Tian Burner joked about her background as a musician in a boy band. For several episodes, she mentioned being signed to Universal Records along with her band at 19 years old.

Which boy band was Tina Burner in?

The timeline for Tina Burner’s boy band lines up with groups like NSYNC and The Backstreet Boys. No, Tina Burner wasn’t a part of NSYNC, but her boy band sported frosted tips just like the early 2000s group.

Tina Burner’s boy band was named 5th Ring and had one song titled “Can’t Say” in 2001. One YouTube video of the song has over a thousand views and there’s even a version recorded in Spanglish. The band has since broken up, with Burner going on to audition and compete on RuPaul’s reality competition series.

This wouldn’t be the only fun fact about this drag performer. Fans learned Tina Burner had a relationship with RuPaul’s Drag Race UK judge and talk show host, Graham Norton. The couple has since separated, with Norton calling the relationship a “disaster.”

Fans can see Tina Burner in episodes of RuPaul’s Drag Race season 13, which debut on VH1.
