Derek Chauvin, the police officer who was fired and is currently being charged in the death of George Floyd, is reportedly close to seeing his marriage come to an end.

According to attorneys for Kellie Chauvin, his wife, she is seeking the "dissolution" of their marriage following her husband's role in the case.

ADDRESSING FLOYD'S LOVED ONES

It is currently unknown for how long Kellie, a Laos native who was crowned Mrs. Minnesota back in 2018, and Chauvin have been married but they have no children together.

Still, it has been revealed in the statement that she does have children from a previous relationship and that she wants her children, elder parents and extended family to be given safety and privacy.

Not only that, but Kellie also shared that she is devastated by Floyd's death and her "utmost sympathy lies with his family, with his loved ones and with everyone who is grieving this tragedy."

WHAT CHARGES IS CHAUVING FACING?

Chauvin was arrested on Friday in connection with Floyd's death, which took place on Memorial Day, prompting a nationwide wave of protests against police brutality.

It has been reported that Chauvin is facing charges of 3rd-degree murder and manslaughter. The other officers involved in the case are yet to be charged but the authorities believe that the situation may change.

STARS' TAKE ON FLOYD'S DEATH

NFL player Colin Kaepernick was among one of the first celebrities to react to Floyd's death, sharing a post on Instagram that supports the people's right to "fight back."

According to Kaepernick, who four years ago took a knee during the national anthem to protest "systemic oppression," "when civility leads to death, revolting is the only logical reaction." He added:

"The cries for peace will rain down, and when they do, they will land on deaf ears, because your violence has brought this resistance."

As aforementioned, Kaepernick was one of the celebrities who reacted to Floyd's passing. NBA star Lebron James made sure Floyd's last words wouldn't be forgotten by wearing a t-shirt that read "I can't breathe."

Singer Cardi B also took to social media to say that enough is enough, that the country is tired of all this violence and that America "is really not the land of the free."
